I am the librarian at a High School where students are permitted to use the Library during their study halls. Depending on the period I can have anywhere from 3-25 students at a time in the library. I have been playing around with the idea of requiring students to have research/assignment passes from their teachers to use the Library during study halls. This would be to eliminate those students that really don't do anything constructive when they're here. I'm obviously torn between YES I want students to be in the facility BUT not to distract others and waste time. Does anyone have a procedure they think works particularly well regarding keeping students focused and respectful of the space?? Thanks!
