I'm sympathetic to this plea, but it's not always practical for me to honor it. I'm speaking solely for myself. But sometimes I'm responding to a thread that's gone a little cold and think it might be useful to have some more of the context included. Other times I'm responding to a particular aspect or comment from a longer thread and want to make it clear what I'm talking about. And, as a reader, on some occasions I pick up a thread late and like to have as much as possible of the conversation present so I can catch up quickly. The digest can be a useful way to keep up if you don't want your inbox flooded. But it's an inefficient method for tracking activity on a list as active as lm_net. One solution might be to apply a rule that sends all your lm_net mail to a folder that you can read when you have time and delete away as the spirit moves you. ---Bob. /************************************************/ /* Bob Hassett, Head Librarian */ /* Luther Jackson Middle School */ /* 3020 Gallows Road */ /* Falls Church, Virginia 22042 */ /* (703) 204-8133 */ /* Bob.Hassett@fcps.edu */ /************************************************/ See you in the Library! -----Original Message----- From: School Library Media & Network Communications [mailto:LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU] On Behalf Of LIZANELL BOMAN Sent: Sunday, September 30, 2007 7:19 PM To: LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU Subject: Plea for us digest folks Hi Folks, I love LM_Net and spend quite a bit of time on the archives etc., because I am a fairly new media specialist. However, I've been a little frustrated of late trying to keep track of various threads through my digest mail, so I have a plea for you all. If you are responding directly to a message because you think the whole list will benefit from your response, PLEASE take the thirty seconds or so necessary to delete the other messages in the digest below the one to which you are replying. I've had at least a dozen messages in the last week where two or three (or more!) messages below the pertinent one where completely un-necessary and slightly confusing as it looks like perhaps there is more information on those threads. Thanks!
