This is school. Students should be thinking that and bringing pencils. Starting in third grade, students are to bring a pencil to media EVERY TIME. I also do not provide paper-if they want they can bring a notebook, whatever. It took a while to train them, but most do it now. I got tired of finding my broken pencils on the floor and pieces of papers in balls around the room. I actually have consequences for NOT bringing your pencil. This is school after all...... And............this is my opinion Debra Fillingim, NBCT Media Specialist Jupiter Elementary Palm Bay, Fl fillingimd@brevard.k12.fl.us -----Original Message----- From: Gayle Hodur [mailto:ghodur@REDSHIFT.COM] Sent: Tuesday, October 02, 2007 11:53 AM To: LM_NET@LISTSERV.SYR.EDU Subject: [LM_NET] Pencil wars Does anyone have a good way of keeping pencils by the OPAC? Ours get stolen constantly - we can easily go through a dozen in a day. I've tried tying them down, I've tried taping a flag on them that says "This is not my pencil." I really don't like to make them come and ask me for a pencil every time, but that's what it's coming down to. ************************************************************** Gayle Hodur District Librarian Soledad Unified School District ghodur@redshift.com -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
