Hi. I had a seventh grade student come to me the other day devastated because some girls in her social circle like her and some don't. She wants to find out what she did wrong so they'll like her. I see her trying really hard to make people like her. I felt so much compassion for her but didn't know how to help her feel better about it. She asked if we had any books on this topic. I gave her a couple of books related to friendships and cliques, but didn't have any dealing directly with the issue of wanting to be liked and being devastated at not being liked. I would appreciate any suggestions. She is GT and a high level reader so she could even handle adult books.
