These are the four responses I received. Many thanks to those of you who sent me
ideas.

Oh, how I wish I were DONE with the book I am just beginning to write called ABC,
READ TO ME: LETTER OF THE WEEK ACTIVITIES IN THE CLASSROOM AND LIBRARY (Upstart).
It will be a compendium of book based activities for several books to accompany
every letter of the alphabet. I'm busily selecting the books right now and
brainstorming kindergarten and preschool activities to go with them.

This is for the letters are lost by Ernst.
I did a lesson on the book then they made their own book. I photographed where
their letter was lost, for example Weston with his G standing beside the globe.
Then he made a sentence. Weston found the g spinning the globe.

You could read A My Name is Alice and have them do a page with a rhyme using
their name, the name of someone of the opposite sex starting with the same letter
as their name (using the words "My friend's name is ______" instead of "My
husband's name is __________), and a place and something to sell also starting with
the same letter as their name. - - - BD

I have a book called Alphabet Stories by Jill M Coudron. Each letter has a
different story and activity; such as Yodeling Yak, Zippy Zebra, Apple Antie. I
don't take one each week as I would in the classroom but give each child several
and they get to color, cut and then we have the Alphabet Zoo. Each class gets its
own Zoo train. I have five kindergarten classes so I have five zoo trains
decorating my walls and circ desk during the first weeks of school. It takes two or
three weeks to complete the letters and get them up in order. Supplement with
different alphabet books. I also try to squeeze in the alphabet books where I can
for the kindergarteners through out the .
