After talking about it for 18 years, my Learning Center is finally being completely
renovated! This involved moving doors, building walls, and completely redesigning
space for a modern library. The finished facility will include a built in story
terrace with full projection capabilities, a functional office with cabinets, paper
storage, cubbies, and shelves, a full computer lab with projection capabilities, 12
patron computer stations for individual and small group use, and many, many more
wonderful things. The down side is, this facility is not ready for the start of
the school year, and won't be ready for at least another month. However, it has
been fascinating over the summer to come in on a regular basis and see the progress
each week, as one or another crew has been working away in there! I have
photographed the various stages, and will include in my portfolio this year the
development of the LC from bare space to a modern library.

"Teachers aren't paid to love children. Loving children is what teachers do for
extra credit. It's not the main assignment - but it's more important than the main
assignment. Extra credit is done of your own free will. Work and love given of
your own free will is always more joyous, better quality stuff." Sahara Special,
