I just had a request from a student for a series of books - he can't remember the title or author but this is the description: Three kids live in a city that is divided by social status. One's social status is changed by passing a test. These three children escape from the city out into a desert where people travel with wind buggies. There are three books in this series and they are red with a crest on the front. Anyone recognize this? And the most you can do is live inside that hope. Not admire it From a distance but live right in it, under its roof. What I want is so Simple I almost can't say it: elementary kindness. Enough to eat, enough To go around. The possibility that kids might one day grow up to be Neither the destroyers nor the destroyed. That's about it..."
