Thank you to everyone who sent information. Many people requested a hit. Here's the information I received: Unless you have a TV that is designed to work as a monitor, it doesn't work. Used to be able to do that with the original Apples, but since then you always needed a converter box that did a mediocre job. the problem is pixels and lines of resolution. _______________________ In my old district (5 + years ago) we used a product called AverKeys (or maybe it was AveryKeys). Anyhow, what we had worked quite well for us. I ended up buying a splitter too because otherwise you had to disable your computer monitor whenever you used the tv as the monitor, but with the splitter, you could view the image on the monitor and the tv. ________________________ Unless technology has changed very recently, you will need more than just a cable--you will need something that transforms the signal. The AverKey is what our school has been using. These cost $80-$90, including a short cable. (If the computers are more than 6 feet away from the TVs you'll need to buy longer cables.) The best buy I found was at TigerDirect. ___________________________ We use AverKeys. The current version we are using is AverKey iMicro. Go to www.avermedia.com. _____________________________ brand name Averkey _____________________________ I use s video cables and have excellent success with a company called sfcable at sfcable.com. If you call them and tell them what you have and the type of connectors they can tell you what you need. I think they're wonderful. ______________________________ We use S-video cables. But not all TV's are equipped with an S-video connection. _______________________________ We have an AVER MEDIA data convertor ________________________________ Malena Bisanti-Wall Media Specialist American Heritage Academy Canton, GA mbisantiwall@ahacademy.com _________________________________________________________________ More photos; more messages; more whatever.
