I would like to echo Becky's frustration. I attended the AASL convention once, and absolutely loved it, but I can't get off to go every year. I attended the ALA summer convention and really enjoyed it, but I got so much more from the AASL convention, and I hate that I can't take the time to go. Since I pay my way any time I go to a conference like that, I'd much prefer to do it during the summer. Janet Saczawa librarian Creekside Elementary Harvest, AL janet.saczawa@lcsk12.org Date: Tue, 1 Apr 2008 13:28:41 -0400 From: Becky Vasilakis <Becky_Vasilakis@AMANDA.K12.OH.US> Subject: Target:AASL and conferences Am I the only one who can not understand why American Association of SCHOOL Librarians has their conferences during the school year? From where I sit most school librarians are working during October. I know that I have a difficult time getting my district to let me off for a day or two for my state conference let alone an out of state conference. Have they ever considered moving to a month when we are not in school? Is there anyone else who would like to go but can't because their district won't give them them the time off, especially with most state confernces during the school year?
