In the debate on "pull or not pull" several people spoke out in favor of
pulling the books thinking that might make the teacher think about
collaboratin the next time. Others mentioned the need for students to
practice their own book finding skills.

In reading over the original posting from Cheryl - two items stand out to me
and generate a question.

Message from the teacher
"Could you help me locate some books on the following topics? Your
assistance is greatly appreciated! I need the books by tomorrow morning
(4/2/08)."

Was she truly asing for help in locating or was she dropping off a list for
the librarian to find? The note says that she needed the books, sounds like
they are going back to the classroom. Seems contradictory.

Second quote
"She just got steamed with me and said to have my aide do this like last
year and walked out."
What exactly did the aide do last year? Was there a suggestion last year to
do this differently at that time?

My own inclination is to say, "lets go over the card catalog and take a
look, I have been working with your students on this skill". Maybe that
wouldn't work if the list is just being dropped off, but then I migh say,
"well I am headed out shortly myself and the aide doesn't get here until
tomorrow morning. It will take her at least half an hour to do this.
