Hi Cindy,

Thanks for the mention. I certainly don't want to DISCOURAGE anyone from
attending the annual ALA conference this summer. I've always found it
valuable to learn from my non-school library colleagues.

Yes, I am doing two pre-conference workshops for ALA on Friday, June 27.

Both are 1/2 day and promise to leave everyone attending confused at a
higher level.

All the best and hope to see a lot of LM_Netters in Anaheim and San Antonio!

Ah but just like NECC the ALA (of which AASL is a division) has an
AASL strand during it's summer conference for school librarians. This
year there are four preconferences for AASL members. Doug Johnson is
presenting for the preconference. There are program strands for school
people. There is the opportunity to see what AASL is working on my
attending the AASL All Committee meetings while at ALA. AASL's
president also has a program and this year the topic is Intellectual
Freedom with the author of "The Higher Power of Lucky" and best of all
there is the Awards Luncheon where all the award winners for AASL's
awards are recognized and last year's keynoter was Carmen Dede who had
everyone laughing and crying at the same time.

So if you cannot get away to an AASL annual conference you always
have the opportunity to attend your ALA conference and follow the AASL
strand.

If go to the following link where you can find out just how much is
offered to AASL members at the ALA Annual Conference
