I really don't think so. In fairness--Sherlock, Batman, Hulk Spiderman, Buck-Rogers, The Shadow, Zorro--would considered "Pulp Heros" not "Folk Heros." The difference (in my perception) is that folk heros are passed orally as well as in text (Paul Bunyan, Slue-Foot Sue, John Henry) and pulp heros are read about in "penny dreadfuls." I'm probably the biggest comic fan ever--but I can't imagine sitting around a campfire sharing tales of Bruce Banner and his radioactive alter ego. Harry Coffill Harry F. I have a teacher who asked her 2nd grade students to read and present a project on a traditional folk tale or fractured fairy tale. A student and his parent are adamant that he can use the Hulk.
