Ask Me No Questions by Marina Budhos is about a Muslim family from Bangladesh
living illegally in the U.S. for eight years. After 9/11, the family seeks and is
refused asylum in Canada. Told from the viewpoint of 14-year-old Nadira, the novel
brings home the difficulties encountered by the main character and her older
sister, who is hoping to be school valedictorian. (Although the official reading
level is lower, I believe this is a good read for older teens as well.)
