My original TARGET: I've been asked to look into ways for our teachers to post homework assignments online for students. We currently use schoolnotes.com, with which we have had some success. I've suggested using a wiki page, as it would allow for us to manage content and remove old teachers/assignments easily, as well as allow teachers to post handouts and worksheets. However, I want to do my due diligence and find out what else might be out there. Is there a particular site/program that you use in your school with which you are particularly happy? Responses: We use eboard.com. I love it. I have one just for the library and post all appropriate websites for our kids on there. I do not have a library website, so this works well for me. http://www.schoolnotes.com I have used this before and really liked it. I'm not familiar with schoolnotes, so I can't make a comparison, but my school uses Edline http://www.edline.com/ and we are happy with it. Our school website is on Edline, and every teacher has a separate page for each class that is simple to update. We also have GradeQuick, which I think is owned by the same parent company as Edline, so it is integrated into the program. Once a student (or parent) logs in, there is a list of all their classes in a sidebar and they can click on the link to go to that page. All our teachers are required to upload grades every Friday, and I think most of them also post assignments and other content regularly. We use Blackboard open source course software - It posts homework and so much more, but requires server space for storage. Use caution in posting copyright protected material online. Some publishers are pretty picky about their material not being digitized, especially workbook pages and even after you have bought the workbooks. Digitization and posting isn't really covered in any of the educational guidelines, and for repeated posting you are going to have a difficult time making a fair use defense. Thanks!
