I'm sorry, folks, but my life just keeps getting better. Yesterday was the first
day with students. I was given a reprieve to work on the district database. They
will "try" to keep everyone out of my hair until the end of the week. And, by the
way we need you to teach a research class to the Middle School. No big deal, it was
in my lesson plans anyway, I am just upset about the way I was told, or not told as
the case may be. They put a schedule in my mailbox with "new LA teacher" written in
one square. I asked the Assistant Principal what that meant and he said it was a
typo. Until the class showed up. Seems the principal has decided, without talking
to me, that I should teach research skills to Middle School Students. The
Assistant Principal said, "This is no big deal, just help them with research for
reports for other classes. You know, books, websites. It won't involve any extra
prep." OH REALLY?? 25-30 kids per class Monday-Thursday all writing reports on
different topics and it won't involve any extra prep? Clearly a man who does not
understand my job. "Oh, and by the way," he said, "we are trying to get you a para.
There is a lady from another school whose program was eliminated. She is very
outspoken and has even been to the school board to tell them they were stupid. I'm
not sure you two will get along, but she is very smart." GEE,THANKS. I asked to be
included in the interview process, but I was told that probably wouldn't happen. I
am devistated and on the second day of school I am already counting the days until
May. Paper or plastic? You want fries with that? Thanks again for listening. At
least there is someone in my life I can talk to who understands my job!Marci
