I've been trying to find items to include in themed Treasure Bottles but had
not had much luck until tonight. I went to the local Michael's craft shop
and found carved buttons. They come in packages with 6-8 items in a themed
pack. They had 3 different school sets, day at the beach, tropical, sports
equipment, mermaids/under the sea, pirates, tools, zoo animals, things that
go zoom, and a huge variety of others. They cost $1.99 for each set, so
they are not cheap, but are lots cheaper than anything else I have found. I
am using vitamin water bottles because they have a little wider mouth than
the soda pop bottles and all of these buttons will fit into these bottles.
The only negative I can think of is that they are one sided rather than
having both sides carved, but to my mind, that is a minor difficulty
considering how easy they will now be to make. The buttons are full color,
so they should be reasonably easy to find in the bottle. I plan on putting
out the back to school bottles now, then adding a new one every month or
so. They had a few winter themed packages, but most of those did not have
the variety that the others had. I'm going to look again, closer to
Thanksgiving, for holiday buttons.

Just thought I'd share this find in case others were also having trouble
locating the items to include.
