Okay, I have my new schedule and for the first time I am seeing our three Kindergarten groups as one class. I just had them come in for the first one and need some help I think. I do see them as three separate classes earlier in the week and that is the time for signing out books and whatever lesson I am doing for them. This large group class is for a literature experience. There are 45 of them and only 24 chairs and 6 tables, so they have to sit on the floor. There is limited floor space because the tables and chairs can only be pushed back, not removed. I am just looking for suggestions of things I can do to hold their attention beyond reading a story. 30 mins is a long time for 5 year old to be sitting still. Engaging them in the story by asking questions or relating it to their life experience had a limited success because some listened, some did not. The space is so close I am worried about doing a physical exercise to get them moving. So, any ideas for me? TIA!
