I spoke with Peter's wife Marian earlier today, and she provided me with additional details on Peter's illness. Peter experienced severe back pain at the California School Library Association Conference in Sacramento a week and a half ago which prompted a trip to an area hospital where he was treated and released. He returned his local hospital in Chico where he has been receiving treatment for a week. His illness was at last identified as an infection in his blood which was causing problems with his spine and excruciating pain. They are now treating him with penicillin, and his temperature has returned to normal, but he continues to experience a great deal of pain. While his condition is improving, he is still in serious condition, and they expect a long road before he is recuperated. Close friends and family of the Milburys are organizing a CarePage online which will allow Marian to quickly post updates on Peter's situation, and it will also allow friends and family to post messages and words of encouragement to them. At present, they are discouraging visitors to the hospital, and I would also discourage phone calls to their residence as Peter's wife is already overwhelmed with responding to the number of messages she has received. As soon as the CarePage is up and running, I will pass along the information to the group, and we'll continue to update the group as needed in the meantime. -- Michelle Walker Co-Moderator, LM_NET and El-Announce with LM_NET Select Librarian, Hamilton Union High School District 620 Canal Street / PO Box 488 Hamilton City, CA 95951 (530) 826-3261 http://www.glenn-co.k12.ca.us/ham-hs/library.html michellekwalker@gmail.com -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
