I am wondering how teacher prep time is covered in schools other than those in the United States. Where I live teachers have a certain number of state mandated hours of preparation time - 450 minutes per 2 week period or 45 minutes a day. Those hours are covered by many configurations of classes - usually art, PE, music, library, special languages etc. I am specifically wondering how other countries resolve this dilemma. Are your teachers required to have a certain number of hours for planning and prep? How much time and how is that time covered? Also in my school all teachers on the same grade level all have the same planning time. For example 9:15 to 10:00 am daily. Is this standard practice? I'm not certain it is the most efficient use of our specials teachers - among whom I belong.
