A fifth grade teacher just sent me this request: My homeroom is working on writing with similes and metaphors. Do you have any ideas for a collaboration project that gives students experience and practice with these two writing techniques? I was wondering if we could work in some lessons on this topic over the next couple of weeks. As I begin to gather ideas that I can present to the teacher, I would really value any suggestions or input this wonderful group may have. Please let me know any literature connections or lesson plan ideas that you have used with success. Thanks in advance for your assistance.
