Hello LM_NETers, Starting in January, I'll be teaching a course for the iSchool at Syracuse University, "Information Technologies in Educational Organizations." One of the assignments is to evaluate a school or library media center website. The students will be learning how to evaluate Web sites using the WebMAC and Content Validity instruments (developed by Ruth Small and Marilyn Arnone) and for their assignment each student will evaluate an actual Web site and write an evaluation consultant report to the client (you). The report will describe the results of the evaluation in detail and will include ideas for improvement. Ruth Small has done this several times in the past when she taught this course and the clients found the results extremely valuable. Of course, you are under no obligation to implement any of the suggestions but many clients do and emailed Ruth how pleased they were with the changes. You are not only helping future school library professionals but you will be receiving high level feedback on your site. If you would like to volunteer your Web site for evaluation, please contact me no later than January 9 at pberger@infosearcher.com . In your message, include: Your name Your title School name City, State, Zip email address Person who should receive the report (if other than you) and their email address url of school or library media center Web site to be evaluated I will contact you by Jan. 16 to let you know if your site was selected. Evaluation reports will be sent out via email by the end of April. Thanks for your help.
