Greetings! Today is the last day to register for Teen Tech Week, March 2-8, 2008! Teen Tech Week is a national initiative sponsored by the Young Adult Library Services Association and is aimed at teens, their parents, educators and other concerned adults. The purpose of the initiative is to ensure that teens are competent and ethical users of technologies, especially those that are offered through libraries such as DVDs, databases, audiobooks, and videogames. Teen Tech Week encourages teens to use libraries' nonprint resources for education and recreation, and to recognize that librarians are qualified, trusted professionals in the field of information technology. YALSA is a nonprofit organization that depends on its members for support. By registering, you are letting us know that technology and technology literacy is of importance to you and your teen patrons. By registering, you are telling YALSA that this program is valuable and worth continuing. And registration comes with plenty of benefits: *A downloadable JPG of the Tune In @ your library graphic to use in promoting your Teen Tech Week celebration *Six weeks' free trial for Teen Tech Week Promotional Partner Rosen Publishing's Teen Health and Wellness Database *Free Webinar from Teen Tech Week Promotional Partner Tutor.com on Live Homework Help, featuring 2006-2007 YALSA President Judy Nelson *Email notification when a new Tech Guide is posted on the Teen Tech Week Web site Also be sure to check out the Teen Tech Week Web site at www.ala.org/teentechweek, where you can get great activity ideas, learn more about Teen Tech Week products (last day to order for on-time shipment is Feb. 18), and find out how your teens can enter the Promotional Song Contest and win prizes. After you're inspired, visit the YALSA Wiki to share your own ideas and list your Teen Tech Week plans at http://wikis.ala.org/yalsa/index.php/Tune_In_%40_Your_Library_resources. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
