Colleagues:
We have participated in a version of NJ's "Battle of the Books" where children read
10-15 of the same novels and then answer questions in small groups. My principal
is looking for a variation of this "reading incentive" program which would NOT ask
lower level questions about the literature. I do
not know if anything exists. Today we use prepared Battle questions which are
recall questions beginning with "In what book..."
If you have any ideas on how to change this program or are using a higher level
thinking book competition, can you let me know? I work with third graders. Thank
you.
