I know library professors and academic librarians are on this list- so I guess I'm really looking to you for advice. I'm giving my collection of picture book extenders to my technical college Early Childhood Education program. It's been 5 years since I worked in K-12 and I can't picture going back to that part of my life. In an effort to declutter my basement shelves I am giving the collection to the college for the Early Childhood Education department to use in kiddie lit classes and curriculum development classes. The question is: Should I put the notebooks (with odd and assorted materials arranged by author): 1. on the academic library shelves (catalog them and have the info in the OPAC-- I guess in the LB section - Library of Congress cataloging) 2. store them in my darkroom closet office (no kidding) and remind the ECE faculty the material exists 3. place them in the Early Childhood department (they also have limited storage and no way to catalog) I'd really like to put them on the official library shelves and have them cataloged in the OPAC so folks can find them....but will it be too "tacky" to have those notebooks with "homemade" covers on the shelf? We don't have a "professional development make and take lab" for Early Childhood - that would be the best place for them. -- Kate Stirk, Librarian North Metro Technical College; Acworth, GA, USA 17 years a Media Specialist in Central Florida KateStirk@comcast.net NMTC Library http://www.northmetrotech.edu/library.asp View from the Library (BLOG) http://northmetrotechlibraryatacworth.blogspot.com NMTC Library Policies and Procedures http://nmtclibrary.pbwiki.com/ Web sites collected for NMTC programs http://del.icio.us/NMTC_Librarian NMTC_Librarian MySpace http://www.myspace.com/nmtc_librarian -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
