Oh Wise Ones!
During our week of testing here in NY state we have a special breakfast
before the BIG test one day a week for each of our 3rd, 4th, and 5th
grade classes to make sure that every student has a special breakfast
on the one day they have the biggest part of their testing. We also
provide nutritional snacks on the rest of the days. This is sponsored by
Shared Decision Making (of which I am a part of) and paid for mostly
PTSA with very little coming from our district.

The students are served by PTSA volunteers instead of the usual
cafeteria workers. While the students eat we have the ELMO machine set
and we have a guest reader read a book about how important school is or
test taking or what school could be like without good students or
teachers... We have used the two books Hooray for Diffendoofer Day and
A Fine, Fine , Fine School in the past. Then when the students leave
they are literally cheered on to go out and do their best on the test
with clapping and applause by the teachers and volunteers.

Finally my question is I would like to use some different books this
year. We have used the above two for awhile and they work well, but I
would like to have different ones for the volunteers to choose from. Any
suggestions would be greatly welcomed.
Thanks
Angelic
