Hi Everyone! I'm stumped! A teacher is looking for information on a Sonnet entitled "Graffiti". I've searched google using "" and specific quotes, but have had no luck. Perhaps this is one of the few things not on Google yet, but that someone here may recall the author and book it may have come from. Thanks for any help! *Graffiti* shake up your colored cans of paint and spray your poetry so all will stop and stare. On billboards, walls, and subway cars, convey your hope through metaphor. Disarm despair with rich and dripping imagery. Don't waste your words on some old tenured academic revising to his cultivated taste. Seek out a place where sadness is systemic. Where literacy is mythical and books are burnt for heat, and muses haunt the street as schizophrenic voices, guilty looks of sympathy are offered in retreat by those who wash the walls and paint them white, so hopeful poets have a place to write. -- Janet Anderson LRC Director Barrington, IL janetand@gmail.com -------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note: All LM_NET postings are protected by copyright law.
