The district I work in is getting ready to make major programming cuts due to a failed referendum. We are getting ready to present before the school board' instruction committee and are looking for information on time spent on the administrative tasks. One of the district administrators shared with the school board in a pie chart that 63% of the elementary library media specialists time is unscheduled. The administrator took a look at the minimum amount of time the elementary lms spend with classes. Our elementary lms work in a flexible schedule, and they all work with classes above and beyond the district set minimums. The board is wondering why we need full time lms when the other specials, art, music and physical education, are given contracts on a percentage basis. We have been working on educating the board and district administrators about our role. Does anyone know if there is a time study of some kind that would off set information that was previously shared with the board? We are scheduled to meet with the board committee this coming Monday.
