I'm wanting opinions on the Kimani Tru books and the G-Unit books for public high school library. I am pretty open minded, generally look at the outcome of the story. Looking for Alaska was highly reviwed and had a fairly clear oral sex scene; but of course I have those reviews to back me up. I want my kids to read.....I buy most of what is on the YALSA reluctant readers list....but many students complain that there is a lack of teen romance in my library (I do not have the Gossip GIrls type books) and also so hard to get minority boys to read. I figure if 50 Cent writes a book, that is one big step toward him making reading "cool" for these kids. I have all of the Draper, Myers, Flake, Woodson, etc books; it still seems that decent minority fiction is hard to come by.
