[LM_NET] Tar: Mid chat-n-chew suggestion

I am in the process of selecting a book for our spring chat-n-chew for
grades 6-8.  I generally like to pick a first book in a series (paperback)
that has a lot of appeal for the guys, i.e. action, adventure, etc.  In
the past we have read with great enthusiasm The Lightning Thief, The
Uglies, Chasing Vermeer, and, most recently, Down the Rabbit Hole.  We
usually have a good turnout and picking the "right" book has, happily,
taken on all the pressure of choosing an Academy Award!  Can anyone
suggest anything you think the kids will buzz about?  Thanks for your
