[LM_NET] Request: School-Wide Read suggestions

I have been a member of the listserv for several months but this is my
first attempt at posting.

 

I need some book suggestions.  Each year my school does a "school-wide
read" where we choose one book for all students to read, grades K-12
also including parents and faculty.  Examples of books we have chosen in
the past are The Life of Pi, The Velveteen Rabbit, and My Family and
Other Animals.  This year my director would like the book to be a
"multicultural read."  She wants to "put students in touch with children
in the world."  What titles would you suggest?
