Thanks a bunch for your curriculum guides.
Many librarians have asked me to post your replies.

I did not know how this worked. I was not sure if you guys should post your
replies to the list, or should I post all of the replies?

I received a lot of attachments with each reply.

  Thanks again!

Subject: TAR: Stuck Stories

Hello, Collective Wisdom,

I have a grade 2 teacher looking for books that are "stuck" stories. Let me=
explain what she is looking for. A stuck story is a plot pattern in which=
something/someone becomes stuck in a predicament and the focus of the stor=
y is how it can be removed/released. In some stuck stories the item/person=
that becomes lodged does so accidentally. In others, an object/person is d=
eliberately lodged and the other characters in the story attempt to remove/=
release the object/person.=20
A couple of books I know already are Andrew's Loose Tooth by Munch and The =
Golden Touch.
Does anyone have some ideas they'd be willing to share?

Thanks so much,
Deana

Subject: Target : ELEM : K-5 report card, do you have a section for the library

Hello all,

Just found out I have a meeting Monday AM to talk about report cards. I
currently do not grade my students or put anything on the report cards and I
feel that is appropriate for our particular situation. However, what do you
all do? Does your report card list standards, general goals, do you give a
letter grade or pluses or checks?

I'd like some info from others so I go to this meeting prepared for what is
considered appropriate by our new powers that be for our new reportcards.

Thanks so much!

I'm having a Friday brain-freeze and need some help! A student teacher asked
me for a good picture book with a strong moral message (could be religious,
but not necessarily), that would work well for teaching 4th graders about
predicting, figuring out plot, etc. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks.

Subject: SEC: printing

I am taking a survey as to whether public high schools charge for printing from
library computers. I am seeing an increasing number of students that need to print
out multiple pages of notes, homework, research, and/or "junk". In the past I've
told students it's ok to print minimally, (no more than 5) but lately I'm seeing
10, 15, etc. Many of the students legitimately do not have any other way to
print. The library pays for the printer cartridges and maintenance of the printer.
So, what does your library do? If you do charge, how much, and how do you monitor
it?? Thanks for your input!
