1. Does tshe software used not have that feature?
Most of the filters have that option --
I sure would find out..

2.Then ask who it is being sent to --

I use that option and the requests come to me.

If it is something out of the ordinary -- I have
different processes I use.

And that of course comes with knowing your
environment.

For example:

a. Shopping websites for kids..
I sent an email to all principals and district office
staff asking for input -- after receiving -- ran it by
the supt.

b. local political site -- where users were posting
during the workday -- not nice information about the
school district, -- asked supt.

c. Specific game websites -- sent to principals.. some
yes -- some no

I also have a Word document with standard answers to
requests that a decision has already been made...
that way everyone gets the same response...

and I use it as an information and instructional tool.
For example -- when kids ask for myspace -
(This is paraphrased)
that it was decided not appropriate for school.
and tell them about some young adult problems that
have happened. and include links to information about
Internet safety...

any information sent to a student is blind copied to
the principal and media specialist

and if approporiate -- the guidance counselor or
classroom teacher..
