My friend, author and illustrator Craig McFarland Brown will be in
Iowa for a week's residency in schools in late March and early April.
That week is filled, but he'd be available during the week of March
24-28, 2008 for any day/s that a school might want to invite him.

He is offering one day/three presentations for a discounted
honorarium $350.00 and NO expenses. He relates very well to readers
of all ages and shares much about the process of writing and creating
illustrations.

He is the author/illustrator of The Patchwork Farmer (a long-time
favorite of mine) and a more recent title Barn Raising (a book set
in the Kalona area). Right now he is working on a new title to be
published by Charlesbridge. Letting your students get in on the
ground floor with a book that they can anticipate in the future is
always a great motivator. I'm sure Craig will talk about his
research for his book that will talk of the Havasupai Indians who
have lived at the base of the Grand Canyon and who still get their US
Mail via pack mules.

Anyway - -if you are interested in inviting Craig to your school
during he week of March 24-28, 2008 contact him at
craigmacbrown@comcast.net or contact me and I'll put you in contact
with him by phone.
