ORIGINAL TARGET:
>Will you help me to brainstorm a list of picture books (suitable for
>Reader's Theater) that feature boys and books or boys reading?
>
>I've got:
>
>The Day Eddie Met the Author
>The Boy Who Was Raised by Librarians
>
>already in mind. Others you want to mention?

YOUR REPLIES (* means more than one mention):

* Edward and the pirates -David McPhail (this is a sequel to Santa's
book of names which also would work)

Of course there is Edward in the jungle also by McPhail that fits
yours needs too.

*Max's Words by Kate Banks

The Incredible Book Eating Boy by Oliver Jeffers

The Boy Who Loved Words by Roni Schotter

Is Archibald Frisby by Michael Chesworth too old for your list?

*How about Tomas and the Library Lady by Pat Mora

*Lately I love to use Henry and the Buccaneer Bunnies by Carolyn
Crimi, but they are rabbits instead of boys - they are male rabbits,
though and it would make a great reader's theater!

* I am going to use More Than Anything Else by Marie Bradby about
Booker T. Washington's desire to learn to read "more than anything
else" next month during Black History month. I will tie it into
Fredrick Douglass' quote, "Once you learn to read you will be forever
free." Is that anything you can use? Too old?

* Library Lil by Suzanne Williams - boys aren't the main character
but the bike gang become readers

Richard Wright and the Library Card by William Miller

Summer Reading is Killing Me! by Jon Scieszka

Charlie Cook's favorite book by Julia Donaldson

Jay and the bounty of books by Randall Ivey

Book fair day by Lynne Plourde

Will you read to me? By Denys Cazet

Read for me, Mama by Vashanti Rahaman
