I am a new LMS, working at an alternative school. The previous librarian was afraid students wouldn't bring books back, so the books didn't circulate. I have been working to change this, and this semester we started allowing students to check books out again. Today, a middle school class was working in the library, but some of them have already finished their project. One asked me if we had any scary books. I showed her a few, describing the plots, and she said "I want to read that one!", practically grabbing it out of my hand and running off to read it at one of the tables. When I told her she could check the book out and take it home to read, her whole face lit up. That warm, fuzzy feeling is going to stay with me all day.
