[LM_NET] GEN: introduction

Hello, 
My name is Jason Godfroy.  I am currently in the McDaniel College (Westmister, MD) 
Graduate School of Library Media.  I am currently an 8th grade English teacher who 
is getting his Master's Degree in School Library Media to become a librarian.  My 
current course is asking me to join a listserv and ask some questions of you all.  
So, if you would please let me know what you think of the following question: 

Please share with me the reasons and importance of having a written technical 
processing policy for cataloging materials.  Should the policy list specifics for 
different grade levels?  I am especially interested in the high school level.  Any 
sample policies will be most helpful. As a student in an online cataloging class, I 
would appreciate information and advice from experienced library media specialists/ 
school catalogers.
