Do you know this book: It is a childrn's book that i read when i was growing up. it's told from the perspective of the father to his child (i'm pretty sure) and it's about how he discovers his wife is a really a bird of some kind who stays up at nights and plucks her feathers to sew a sail for a boat he is building, and then one night he walks in on her, and she is never seen again. the pictures are beautiful and i thought it might have been a caldecott winner.
