[LM_NET] ELEM.-MID Book title

Hello all,
I bumped into a parent a few days ago and she asked for the title of book I had 
never heard of.  I told her I knew just the people that could help me come up with 
the answer. She said she read it in middle school (she thought), and it was a 
series of letters from an author to a boy.  Yes, I already suggested Dear Mr. 
Henshaw, but she said that was not it.  She thought it had the name Homer in the 
title and it was about the inventor of the plastic tip at the end of shoelaces, or 
the aglet, I have learned this week. I guess the author and this inventor were 
writing each other.  I appreciate any help!!
