I find the Taiwan / China question extremely interesting and see it as
an example of something valuable for people to know. Little democratic
free press multi party baseball loving Taiwan and big powerful, one
party communist, not really free press, censored Internet China. And the
US - no official diplomatic ties to the country that shares the same
values we do. If the entire story of the history of this situation were
closely adapted into a children's story, it would be interesting to
study in that story the ethics and morals of each player. An awareness
of this question and countless others can only help school library media
specialist. It can help shape a collection, empower, inspire, and
challenge students.

Professional travel of school librarians and other activities that
encourage a seeing of the world more completely in all its wonder and
all its problems can only be a good thing.
