I, too, use a typewriter for spine labels, and can't see doing it any 
other way.

When the annual discussion of how to print small batches of spine labels 
using the computer comes up, I always suggest to the questioners that 
typewriters work better than computers for this task. While new 
technology does, indeed, have advantages sometimes, once in a while the 
old technology is still the best for the job at hand.
