This is a follow-up to a post I submitted 02/13/08. Sorry to take so long to compile a hit. I'm a one-man-(library) band. Original post dated 02/13/08 / Tech/Middle: PPT ? Once again, I come seeking your wise counsel. Our 7th/8th grade math teacher came to me today with a PowerPoint (PPT) question I am unable to answer. Her 7th/8th grade classes are working in groups with each group completing a 2-slide PPT on formulas. She would like to merge all the groups' slides into one collective PPT and is unsure how to best accomplish this. Question: Can she merge all the groups PPT's into one collective PPT? Can this be done through some type of PPT merge? Or will she have to individually drag/drop slides to create one collective PPT with the assorted groups' slides ? * * * * * * * * * * * Responses received: The trick is to be sure that in Preferences, under the Advanced Tab, the box is checked for multiple backgrounds. Then you can simply import the slides from one presentation into another. Sometimes it helps if you are working in the slide sort view, rather than just the normal slide view; the backgrounds seem to not change that way. * * * * * * * * * * * If they are all saved on the same folder, I'd open one PPT and go to insert slide and click on each one of the other PPT's and insert them. * * * * * * * * * * * I believe you can merge the slides. I would start with a blank document; click on "insert", "from files" then find the first student's document. Click on "insert all" at bottom. * * * * * * * * * * * Yes this can be done and it is fairly easy. 1-Open PP, 2-go to Insert, 3-Insert, slides from files, 4-browse to find the other PP. 5-They can insert just certain slides or they can choose to insert all of them. Continue the same steps to insert more PP. * * * * * * * * * * * Microsoft has a slightly less involved approach on their website. I have placed the URL below. http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/powerpoint/HA011587531033.aspx Hope this is somewhat helpful. * * * * * * * * * * * I thought there was an "append file" feature in PPT, but apparently not. You will have to open each project and click in the slide area, CTRL A, CTRL C, and then go to the document that will have everything. Click in the slide area at the bottom of the last slide, then CTRL P. Make sure you copy these into the final document in the order you want them finalized. It could help if before you start this process, to rename all the files in the order you are going to place them in the final document. Good luck! * * * * * * * * * * * She can copy and paste them in. When it asks her if she wants to preserve the original formatting she will need to choose yes. * * * * * * * * * * * Thanks to all who responded.
