Thanks to those who responded to my target for a site that tells you the
carbon footprint of various activities. I didn't find what I was looking for
- I think it does not exist yet - where you can enter a particular type of
activity and you get the carbon footprint for that activity. On most of
these sites, you answer questions about your overall lifestyle type (do you
fly a lot, how do you dry your clothes, etc.) and then they calculate your
footprint, and give you suggestions for lowering it. The origin of my Target
was a 5th grader who asked if the campfire we are planning on having next
month at our school would produce more or less pollution than driving a car
for a day, a week, etc. so I wanted to compare the pollutant output of a
campfire (granted, it would depend on the size) with that of a car for a
day/week (and granted, it would depend on how much one drives in a day, but
you get the idea!) :)
