A colleague asked me to pass this on. Any help would be appreciated. Here's what I know about the story: It was in an old anthology, so he doesn't know if it's just a short story or an excerpt from a novel. The story was based in a future where "equality" was the most important value. If someone was deemed too smart, he/she had a "thought disrupter" that they wore that gave a loud noise in their ear to stop them from thinking too clearly. If an athlete was particularly large or strong, he had to wear weights to keep him "equal" with the others. The story/excerpt ended with the characters watching a ballet, and a man came in and removed the weights from the best dancer to free her to dance and everyone is surprised by the beauty of it, but (from what my colleague says) there is a hint that the authorities are going to punish them. Does that ring any bells? Thanks.
