Thanks to all, I now have some synonyms to scatter about my manuscript! Hope you'll find them useful too! Toni ORIGINAL REQUEST: Now that we have our new AASL Standards for the 21st Century Learner, when I am writing, I'm not simply using the outdated term "information literacy skills." The first time I mention the five literacies, I say "digital, visual, textual, technological, and information literacy." Thereafter, I use the term "multiple literacies" as the Standards document itself does. My editor has asked me to think of a synonym for "multiple literacies." I'm stumped. Any ideas? RESPONSES: Pentacle of skills? Collective Literacies? the Latin "Literi" or "Literum"? Mosaic of Deeper Understanding? Diverse Learning Modules? Legion of Evaluation Skills? Collective Literacy Components? Web of Perceptions? Mixed Bag O' Library Stuff????? Meta-literacy? symphonic understandings Current Integral Essential DIVTT (Divot). Because you will be digging yourself out of a hole if you don't get these. My thesaurus search for multiple came up with Manifold, Numerous, Many, Several, Various, Compound My search for Literacy showed Articulateness, Intelligence, Erudition, Learning, Learnedness, Scholarship, Culture, Enlightenment, Edification I like multiple intellegences, though that comes with its own baggage. How about collective intelligences or collected intelligence? aggregate/accumulated schemas? How about "DeViTTI Literacy?
