I have a literary map of New York State which I find continually
fascinating. These maps came from a project sponsored by the NYS
Council for the Arts. I don't know if the maps are available anymore,
but you can learn about the project at this website: www.nyslittree.org.
I also have the following quote:

"Thousands of tired, nerve-shaken, over-civilized people are beginning
to find out that going to the mountains is going home; that wilderness
is a necessity; and that mountain parks and reservations are useful not
only as fountains of timber and irrigating rivers, but as fountains of
life."
