We just purchased 2 Flip Videos and 1 RCA Small Wonder. I love both of them! We don't have any problems with uploading the videos to Macs or PCs. They are AVI files so that does cause a problem with some operating systems. The software they are talking about was free and easily installed by our Tech Dept onto the Macs. The PCs loaded everything instantly. Of the two, I would recommend the RCA Small Wonder for several reasons: tripod screw mount, LCD screen that flips our for self recoding, SD/MMC card slot which increases recording time to 5 hrs (read directions about uploading from internal memory to card before you use, it is very simple), and two video quality choices (High Quality or Long Play mode). It is so easy to use and projects on the large screen for class presentations without any distortion. We normally drop them into iMovie so the students can do editing, otherwise you can play your clips directly from the AVI file. Be sure to use rechargeable batteries with these units. Can someone clarify this for me? They suggested: RCA Small Wonder and Aiptek A-HD 720P 5MP CMOS High Definition Camcorder. I know the small wonder from earlier discussions and comparisons. The Aiptek seems like it will not withstand the handling that kids will give it. Could someone offer advice?
