I recently taught English students to use Google Page Creator to create an
Electronic Portfolio. I was thinking it was a perfect tool for them, something that
they can use in the future, easily make changes, and it uses 21st Century
technology. The EPortfolios are not searchable via a Google search. A couple of
other teachers in our small district also use it.
Our building's computer teacher is extremely concerned about the use of Google Page
Creator for two reasons: students' personal information published on the Internet
and the use of Google Pages for cyberbullying.
So, I'm gathering information here. Does your school promote student publishing on
the Internet? If so, what software do the students use for what purposes? And how
does your school handle the prospect of cyberbullying using these tools and
teaching the students on Internet safety?
