I just got in a load of new books. Yippee! So now I have a question
about the procedures I have followed for years--the question is Why?

Why do I take the time to write on the title page of each book the
price, the fund, the date I bought it, etc. I understand writing in the
barcode number (in case the students rip it off, and it comes back to
me--which happens), and the call number (it also gets ripped off), but
don't remember why the rest is necessary in today's times. I am using
Destiny, which has those fields.

What do some of you other folks do when processing new books?

Thanks to all who respond. I'll eventually post a hit--I will warn
you, I am slow on posting hits, but I do eventually get around to them.
I am posting a hit on the Dymo labeling system this week.

Much of the social history of the Western world over the past three
decades has involved replacing what worked with what sounded good.
