We have Reading Counts! I agree with you that identifying reading level by
color is a problem. If it was on the lower end of the spectrum, I would
resent my level being advertised. My RC books have all different color stars
on them to say that we have a quiz for the book. The color means nothing.

A colleague at another junior high set her system up first and used the
color indicates level system. She is perfectly comfortable with it and has
never indicated student resistance. I think her comfort level is what makes
it work for her.

As far as I know, she is the only one of our 5 junior highs to use that
system.
