Here is my original post: > I bought some small letters and some Dewey number divisions placards on plastic >to use to label my wooden shelves. I thought they would have adhesive on the >back, but they don't. Can someone tell me the best way to adhere them to painted >wooden shelf fronts? > I think all of the suggestions are good. The hot glue gun will be simplest and quickest, but if that doesn't work for me, I will definitely try others. Here they are: We use Vistafoil, like clear contact paper. First, take the gloss off the painted surface where you want to stick your letters with some very fine sand paper. Next, use a two part epoxy (available a Wal-Mart and the big hardware stores) applied to the letter acks witha paint brush. I'd do it on a Friday afternoon so that it would have all weekend to set. Double face tape works well- I like the kind that has foam in between the tape sheets. I got a roll from Demco :Scotch 4016 Double-coated Vinyl Foam Tape 1/2"W X 36 Yds It seems expensive, but it really holds well on uneven surfaces like wood. I have had some signs up for three years. WS14809500 ROL $33.24 I like to use a hot glue gun. It sticks good and when you want to move them the glue comes off the shelves easily Double-face adhesive, 3M makes good stuff... I find that the double sided tape works pretty well! We use a glue gun for just about everything. Thanks to all who responded. > Judy L.
